Generally, in our beloved land, once in 5 years, creative individuals are born, but in most cases, these suddenly and brightly revived “comets” begin to disappear from view, leaving behind only the sparkling train of their music. Increasingly, our young artists are becoming the favorites of the young public. However, with recognition to talented and interesting musicians, it should be noted that sometimes they find the response of their work not in their homeland, but somewhere in a foreign land. Excellent examples of this: Zzara, Jah Khalib, Scryptonite, Cardio Beat, The Jigits etc.
In fact, we have many promising young performers, whose praiseworthy work remains beyond what they have seen and heard. Contemplate and perceive by ear they can only through social. networks. Almaty is the cradle of musical creativity in Kazakhstan. Over the 200 years of its existence, the city heard a variety of performers and musicians. Only since 2014, the first unique indie-rock band “Far in Gate” has appeared singing in the Kazakh language throughout Kazakhstan. So I took an interview with the vocalist of this group, Jannel.
-My name is Zhanel Zhusupova, I am the vocalist of the group “Far in Gate”.We play music in the genre of an alternative. We write our songs in the Kazakh language.
–Which is extremely individual. Moving on to the first question: what is music for you?
-It’s a lifetime. The story of every person who writes it. Limitless emotions and beautiful sounds. Whatever I do, music always goes with me. This is the air that I breathe.
-Whose work influenced you in your musical development?
–In childhood, in summer my parents took me to the village where my cousin,Assel, spent a lot of time with me listening to different genres of music and it all remained in my memory.
-At what point did the realization come that music isn’t just a hobby?
-I was engaged in music at the same time seriously and not. I didn’t understand this could lead me to the “big” stage. I think all my desires and visualizations somehow brought people into my life who contributed to what I am now.

-Alternative rock in our country isn’t popular. Is it difficult to find fame in the country where “Toi” motifs sound?
-Rock genre is immortal. Always was, is and will be. In our country, many people love rock, but the problem is that there’s no high-quality text or interesting arrangement. If you give it to people in a quality form, people will love it.
-Very personal in your songs performed during the performances, what emotions overcome, don’t you get emotionally recall all the past?
-To some extent, it also helps to heal wounds. Of course, it can be difficult, you’ll never deceive the listener. But this is all the buzz, especially for the masochists (laughs).
“It’s never impossible to predict what the listeners will like. You have to do what you love. You can always find your listener. It is important to do honestly.”
-When something strongly impacts on you?
-Yes, the best event for me happened in the summer, during a music festival. We first played “Alysta” after release. When the whole hall started singing with me it was indescribable! Raun (bass-guitar) and I looked at each other and we were shocked people were singing our song. When you write, you don’t know whether a person will sing it. Then the realization that we are doing something of great value came.

–“Far in Gate” is a teenager who grows, develops. It has a little childishness. A character is formed, who wants to show everyone that he is worth something.
